  1. What are the advantages of Marbonite StainFREE compared to Ceramic floor tile?

Marbonite StainFREE, a fully homogenous tile is far superior to ordinary ceramic floor tiles. Ordinary ceramic floor tiles are porous products and require to be glazed before use. Marbonite StainFREE on the other hand is an unglazed product. It is made of single compact body mass and is fully vitrified (water absorption near zero). This makes it stronger and more durable.

The near-zero water absorption resulting from a high degree of compaction imparts more strength and reduces the moisture & thermal expansion, thus facilitating joint free applications. The use of all pure-white raw materials ensures that there are no contaminants or impurities, which may otherwise deteriorate the product. The high firing temperature (1200°C) ensures complete reaction between all raw materials to obtain a high level of vitrification.

  2. Who manufactures Marbonite StainFREE, the fully homogenous vitrified tile in India?

Marbonite StainFREE is brought to you by M/s H & R Johnson (India). It is a member of Johnson Ceramics International, UK, one of the top five ceramic tile groups in the world. Johnson Ceramics International has a very strong global presence and its manufacturing plants are spread across the world.

  3. What is Marbonite StainFREE ? How is different from normal Marbonite?

Normal Vitrified Tiles, such as Marbonite have micro pores on their surface. Marbonite Stain Free tiles, however, are manufactured using a breakthrough technology which seals all such micro pores and thereby protects the surface of the tiles from unwanted stains.

  4. If normal Marbonite tiles are stain resistant, why is there a need for Marbonite StainFREE?

Normal Morbonite tiles are easy to maintain and clean, so long as any stubborn stains are cleaned-off immediately upon contact with the tile. Such stubborn stain if not cleaned immediately will penetrate the micro pores present on the surface of the tiles, making the stain permanent. Likewise, minute dust or dirt particles present in the ambient atmosphere, tend to settle into the micro pores, leaving a permanent dirt stain on the tile.

Marbonite StainFREE offers a solution to these problems by sealing-off the micro pores that are the root cause of staining in vitrified tiles. Thus, with Marbonite StainFREE there is less danger of permanent staining, due to either stubborn stains or ambient dust particles.

  5. What is the Super Gloss feature of Marbonite StainFREE tiles ?

In normal Marbonite tiles, the micro pores scatter incident light leading to reduction in the amount of light being reflected. By sealing the micro pores, the flatness of the surface of the tile is increased like never before. This increased flatness, drastically reduces light scattering, resulting in a significant increase in the amount of light reflected off the surface, thus imparting the Super Gloss feature to the tile.

  6. Does the increased glossiness of Marbonite StainFREE tiles make them more susceptible to scratches?

No, there is no danger of Marbonite StainFREE tiles attracting more scratches because of increased glossiness. The scratch hardness of the tile remains unchanged. Only the micro pores present on the surface of the tiles have been closed, giving the tiles the Super Gloss feature.

  7. Where can Marbonite StainFREE tiles be used ?

Like normal Marbonite tiles, Marbonite StainFREE is suitable for use in residential homes, offices, shopping malls, hospitals, airports etc.

  8. What steps are recommended at the time of purchasing Marbonite StainFREE ?

First and foremost a small quantity of extra tiles must be purchased over and above those specified by the contractor, say at least a box more. This is to make up for shortfalls that may arise eventually. It is likely that tiles belonging to the same batch (and hence same shade) may not be available at a later date. This may result in a compromise to use tiles of a different batch or shade that may disturb the overall homogeneity of the floor/wall. For the same reason, it is important to check at the time of purchase, the batch numbers and shade numbers on all the boxes for uniformity.

  9. What is the life of Marbonite StainFREE tiles ?

Micro pores that open up during the manufacturing process are sealed using a break-through technology. These pores are sealed permanently and hence would impart significant stain resistance for the useful life of the tile. However, depending upon usage and maintenance, sand and grit particles from footwear etc may cause fresh micro pores to open-up which could attract stains. Hence, in order to increase the useful life of Marbonite StainFREE, it is recommended to take the same precautions that one would take with normal Marbonite tiles. Depending on usage of the polished surface, the life of Marbonite StainFREE will be much more than that of the best Italian marble or granite.

Other advantages of Marbonite StainFREE are that it is fade resistant, ecologically compatible, environmentally green with no chemical or toxic substances, is odourless and has good heat energy retaining and conducting (conserving) properties. It is not inflammable and also UV resistant.
  11. Is Marbonite StainFREE scratch proof?

The scratch resistance of Marbonite StainFREE is much higher than ordinary ceramic floor tiles, cement mosaics, and natural stones such as Italian marble and granites.

  12. Does the design seen on top of the tile remain forever or will it disappear with use? Is Marbonite StainFREE a fully homogenous tile?

The designs on the tile are printed with what are known as soluble salts or penetrating pigments. As the name suggests these salts penetrate to a depth of 2-3 mm below the surface of the tile. Thus the design is present up to 25% of the thickness of the tile. Being such a hard material, it is virtually impossible to remove this amount of material to make the design disappear.

All Marbonite StainFREE tiles are fully homogenous vitrified and they have uniform properties all through its body, which guarantees the quality of the tile.

  13. Thickness of Marbonite StainFREE is very less compared to marble slabs. Is it weaker than marble? Does it crack like marble after fixing?

No. Marbonite StainFREE is tough and long lasting because it is manufactured using the finest white burning clay in the world, imported specially from Ukraine. High quality minerals are mixed with this clay to form a unique body composition. 4600 ton presses compress and compact the powdered mass to form the tile. The tile is then fired in a 142 m roller hearth kiln at an ultra high temperature of 1200ºC leading to high degree of vitrification to make the product stronger. This process makes Marbonite StainFREE harder than natural stones such as granite and marble.

Its lower thickness does in no way reduce its strength and during normal use it will never crack like a marble.

  14. How durable is MarboniteStainFREE tile? Can it be used for heavy traffic areas?

This product is designed for heavy traffic areas. Its high hardness and breaking strength compared to marble and other ceramic flooring make it an ideal choice for high traffic application. It is specially suited for high traffic areas such as hotel lobbies and airports from the point of durability and aesthetics.

If maintained properly, that is, kept free of grit and sand, it should last the lifetime of your home.

  15. Can this be fixed on existing floor?

Yes, it can be fixed on the existing floor but by employing synthetic adhesives.

  16. Can it be fixed with minimum gap between the tiles?

Marbonite StainFREE is a pre-sized product with very low moisture and thermal expansion. It may be used for a joint-free application.

  17. Should expert advise be sought at the time of fixing the tiles?

Yes, being a high value product and to get 100% satisfaction it is of paramount importance that great care and skill is employed while fixing the tiles. The company’s service engineers or sales personnel may be contacted for assisting the contractor/mason for guidance on installation and for post-laying maintenance tips.

  18. What regular maintenance is recommended for Marbonite StainFREE tiles?

In general no special maintenance is required for Marbonite StainFREE tiles. Sweeping the floor on regular basis to remove any trapped-in dirt and keeping an anti-dust mat near the entrance / exterior door to minimize abrasive dirt like sand etc. being brought-in by footwear is sufficient. Other than that use of a neutral PH detergent or standard tile care product for mopping is enough to keep the tile looking fresh always.

  19. Can Marbonite StainFREE be used on the wall?

Yes, but for internal walls only. They are also suitable for external walls and cladding but for these applications special mechanical fixtures must be used for anchoring the tile.

  20. What are the manufacturing technologies used to create Marbonite StainFREE ?

We use the best machinery and technologies to ensure that Marbonite StainFREE is truly a high quality product suited to satisfy all your expectations.

Carefully selected raw materials mixed in a continuous ball mill to ensure consistency in product, 4600 ton presses for better compaction, and longer kilns for uniform firing, ensures the outcome of a world class product.
